Even the cold can't stop a triathlete!

Haven't written about any adventures lately, but time to fill you in!!!!
It's been cold here in Va Beach, not a little, but a lot!!! In the 20's. My cousins in Minn laugh at me because it is 20 below out there....(Can you imagine?!?!?!?)
I've been biking with friends outside...but when its below 45, I'm on my trainer!
I'm training for Shamrock Half Marathon in March, Devilman Half Ironman in May, Diamond Half Ironman in Sept, and Outer Banks MARATHON in Nov.....there is a reason for all this madness (as my mom refers to it...)In another 3 yrs I'm going to do an IRONMAN TRIATHLON!!!!!! Now in order to do this I want to do 4 Half Ironman's, and 2 marathons....and feel relatively comfortable.....at least not end up in the hospital!!! My goals for the races were always to finish vertically, but now I add on not going to visit the local hospital!!!!!
So, back to this week and the weather...
Ronna sent me an email about dogs. It read"When one dog leaves you, she takes a piece of your heart, but when you get another dog she puts a piece back in your heart" I thought about it all day. I just LOVE my dogs, and they are spoiled rotten!

Thurs I dragged my butt home from work, and got on the treadmill, had to run 1 hr, with intervals....I was at mile 4, and my sweet boy, Tri came in the room, and just looked at me with big, soft, brown eyes. He sat right next to the treadmill. He was trying to make a point, so he went over to the bench were I keep my hats, pulled off my favorite one, walked it over to the treadmill, and put it down...

"Ok, I get the message!!!! But you do realize it is 8:00pm, very windy, and 20 degrees!" He just batted his eyes and wagged his tail..

So I jumped off the treadmill, put on a hat and gloves, and off we went. When I opened the door, I thought "This isn't to bad" After the first half mile I was unable to feel my legs (I think it had to do that I was only wearing shorts.....mental note...don't wear short when its less than 50 degrees!!)

At the first mile I felt a bit delirious, felt like I was in Alaska, with a bobsled team...I think I even yelled "MUSH" a couple of times to Tri!!! (Another mental note, try to find one of those flasks the St Bernard's run with, to fit Tri!!!!)

So I made it back home, took a hot shower, and sat down with a steaming hot cup of hot chocolate....Tri was right there at my feet,he looked up and smiled!

Fri was interesting....the coldest day in Jan in 4 years, and what was I doing at 6:00 am, putting on my bathing suit, and heading towards the pool!

I had to wait about an hr once I got there, because they had some guys trying to chip away at the pool, because there was a layer of ice that formed on it! The guys had on jackets that read "MINNESOTA ICE BREAKING TEAM.(YOU KNOW, THE STATE THAT LOST TO THE EAGLES!) Quite a lot to have on the back of your jacket, but it was all there!!

It was actually a great swim!

So life is good, really good. Looking forward to 2009, and happy to be healthy!

Hope all is well with everyone!!
